What started to be my first and last mission trip in December 2006 was my turning point as a regular mission trooper. Little did I realize it was not going to stop there.

mission4I saw how God answered and connected prayers before my very eyes. It was the prayer connection from the heart of a child’s mum to the mission troopers in December 2006 that led me on. This child was suffering from Fallot’s Tetralogy and needed a corrective heart surgery. I witnessed the power of prayer and how our fervent prayer and faith in God could move mountains.

Matthew 17:20 "…if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move…

Fast forward, the child was brought to Singapore for a heart surgery and she is now able to live a normal life, like any other children. Praise the Lord!

After my first mission trip and seeing how our faithful God works, I took my second trip to Philippines in April 2007. This time, it was to Zambales where the Aetas Children Home (ACH) is.

When I first stepped foot onto the ground of ACH. the children caught my attention. Most of them were orphans but they were cheerful and joyful. They sang, danced and smiled beautifully. My heart went out to them, especially when we were greeted by their bright smiles. They seemed to be contented and happy, to be housed under the roof of ACH.

The teachers and staff were cordial and conversed amicably with us too. The countenance of the Lord was surely in this home!

The one project which really caught my attention is “Love in A Shoebox: Make an Aeta Child Happy this Christmas”. This project reaches to the hearts of children who live in a secluded rural areas. It goes to show the care and love from the ACH. Not only do they housed the orphans in Zambales, their hearts go out to children in other rural areas too.

God gives us natural talents and skills that we can develop so whatever God has deposited in me, I want to best use it in this area. He caught hold of my inspiration by His magnificent work in ACH and since then He has never let me go. He is my awesome and indescribable God!

After every mission trip, just thinking of His goodness makes me excited and thrilled. It makes me fall in love with Him over and over again.

Mission is the heart of Jesus. There is so much work to be done and yet so little is accomplished. It pains me to look into the eyes of the needy people. I could feel their longings for physical touch and love, their desire to be part of us, even their envy of us. They long for someone to reach out to their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. The thought of them melts my heart. I desire to care, love, hold and stay with them. The desire is so great that I wish I am out there - be part of them, to feel them, to weep and to laugh with them everyday.

The bottom line is not just my service for God but it’s my love that He wants from me. This service comes from my grateful heart for all that He has done for me. My hands and feet are for Him and I desire to avail myself as a regular mission trooper for Him. The prayer of my heart is “where He leads me, I will follow”. Silver and gold have I none but what I can do, I do it all for Him. Glory be to God!

“Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known”.
