Today… They Need You

aeta2When dreams have been destroyed, it is agonizing to begin rebuilding. When I visited this ministry and asked Cora how Wilson felt when the lahar forced them to evacuate. "He was devastated!" she responded. Much courage and strength have been required to begin again.

In the resettlement area of Balaybay, they have discovered even greater opportunities to serve the Aetas. The children are excited to learn, and already several of the older ones have returned to their villages to share the Gospel. Gradually the Lord is restoring those things which were lost. They have built another chapel, a little dorm for the little children and provisions were joyfully received from different hearts that the Lord had touched .

In their letters, the Ladringans ask for no pity. Instead, they are filled with praise for their faithful heavenly Father’s care. The theme of their song, written in letters across the front of their church and in the closing of every report, is "TO GOD BE THE GLORY!". They are praying that they can open a school [editor's note: this school is now open. The To God Be The Glory Chistian Academy] so that that the Aeta children can attend without paying. In his last letter, Wilson reiterates, "It is the fervent desire of our hearts to see the Aeta children grow and develop into a God-fearing, educated, matured and committed group of Christians who can someday be used mightily by God to evangelize their own people. This is our primary goal and vision."

When things look dark and discouraging, as they have many times in their lives, they return to Psalm 41:1-2: "Blessed is he that consider the poor: The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."
